Winchuck provides a parking area and access to the Winchuck River and ocean beach for fishing, exploring, clamming, strolling, photographing seascapes and observing marine life. There is a multi-agency effort to restore a 1.2-acre estuary at the mouth of the Winchuck River. The estuary was carved from an upland portion of the 6.8-acre Winchuck State Recreation Site. Besides benefiting many aquatic species with an enhanced habitat, the project will improve the Winchuck site by opening a larger area of the beach and improving viewpoints.
